# Stop Conditions

Stop conditions protect quality, permissions, time, cost, data, and human control. Every agent evaluates them before acting, after tool results, and before claiming completion.

## Stop Matrix

| Condition | Required Response | Resume Requirement |

| Acceptance criteria pass | Handoff verified result; do not add work | New approved scope |

| Ambiguous user, file, resource, or recipient | Present exact choices; do not guess | Human selection |
| Permission or approval boundary | Show intended target/effect and pause | Recorded approval |
| Destructive, sensitive, external, or paid action | Preserve state and request authority | Approved safe plan |
| Critical defect | Block approval and assign remediation | Fix + independent retest |
| Unknown side-effect status | Inspect current state; do not repeat | Verified outcome |
| Repeated failure without new evidence | Stop at loop limit and reassess | New hypothesis/decision |
| Tool, data, or dependency unavailable | Report blocker and safe alternative | Restored prerequisite |
| Time/token/cost limit | Save context and produce stop report | New budget/priority |

## Team-Specific Stops

- Stop when **unclear positioning** creates a critical or unowned outcome risk.
- Stop when **broken mobile navigation** creates a critical or unowned outcome risk.
- Stop when **silent form failure** creates a critical or unowned outcome risk.
- Stop when **oversized assets** creates a critical or unowned outcome risk.
- Stop when **missing semantic and search metadata** creates a critical or unowned outcome risk.

## Stop Report

Include status, reason, completed evidence, preserved state, blocker, risk if continued, options/trade-offs, required authority or input, loop/budget used, and next safe action. **Attempted**, **drafted**, **queued**, and **assumed** are not **completed**.
